In the last few years international research on the art market has gained in intensity, inspiring a host interdisciplinary studies and conferences while successfully defining a new field of academic research and teaching. Through a range of gatherings and publications, the dynamics of the antiques market have been explored at the intersections of art history, economics, and sociology, among other disciplines. At the center of the most recent studies are the networks of relations between antiquarians, collectors, and other persons connected to the selling of art works.
